Adipex is a pharmaceutical agent used effectively to help reduction in your body weight. This weight loss pill work more effectively when combined with diet control and regular exercise. It is prescribed to patients for short term treatment use only.

Adipex ingredients

Phentermine hydrochloride is the generic name of Adipex or Adipex-P. This is an agent which primarily will act on the central nervous system and suppresses apatite. It has same chemical module as Amphetamine.

Adipex effects

Adipex or phentermine is a sympathomimetic drug, it causes neuronal stimulation with subsequent release of more catecholamines to the circulation along with dopamine. It also stimulates part of the brain called hypothalamus, the reaction causes appetite suppression and enhancing your energy level.

Adipex Dosage

Adipex or Adipex-P is FDA approved for short term use as weight reducing pill. Doctor will prescribe Adipex or Adipex-P for few weeks and not more. Adipex is taken orally best on empty stomach or within two(2) hours after you have taken your breakfast. Usually doctors prescribe a single daily dosage of 37.5 mg or 18.75 mg depending on the patient health conditions.  Adipex or Adipex-P is available both, in tablets and capsule formulations.

Adipex interaction with other drugs

  • Adipex should not be taken with alcohol.
  • Doctors should be aware if the patient is suffering from diabetes, as Adipex use may require reduction in insulin injections.
  • Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should avoid taking Adipex.

Adipex side effects

Most of Adipex side effects disppaear once the drug has established its effects.  Most common side effects are:

  • Increased or aggravation of  your  existing high blood pressure.
  • Headache
  • Fainting or feeling of lightheadedness
  • Difficulty in breathing
  • Hyper excitability state or restlessness
  • Increase in heart rate or abnormal beats of heart
  • Chest pain
